An Imagined World Come True...
Neuromancer is a novel written by William Gibson in 1984, and is considered to be a premier work within the cyberpunk sub-genre of Science Fiction. The novel tells the story of a washed-up hacker hired by a mysterious employer to pull off the ultimate hack. The narrative utilises conventions such as Artificial Intelligences and far advanced technologies to present an insight into a world developmentally probable from today. Consider the matrix presented by Gibson and its implications for the Internet today, as well as how it compares with Blade Runner in fusing hard and soft science fiction to present a cautionary tale for the audience.
